Outpatient Diabetes Education

Our Outpatient Diabetes Education program is a recognized education program that meets the National Standard for Diabetes Self-Management Education. The Diabetes Center is staffed with Certified Diabetes Educators that are Registered Nurses and also Registered Dietitians. Education is provided for all types of diabetes including Gestational Diabetes classes and Pre-Diabetes classes.

Curriculum includes:

  • Learning what diabetes is

  • Defining the type

  • Latest treatment options

  • Monitoring your blood sugar

  • Healthy eating

  • Problem solving

  • Acute complications

  • Foot care

  • Reduction in risk factors

  • Medications

  • Prevention of long term complications
